Specialized Bikes Serial Numbers

by cepgeoorunvinus 2021. 5. 25.

Serial number J497301. Fairly inexpensive bike, possibly French, but hard to tell as you don't show derailleurs or crank/chainwheels. Without even a head badge to indicate brand the serial number is useless. It's nothing special, and a terrible paint job - I would not really call that restored. Okay, fine, so maybe there are a few bikes without serial numbers, but this is rare and typical only on hand made bikes or really old bicycles. In this picture 200910427-2A is a manufacturer number and not a serial number. Register Your Bike. And now that you've got that hot new serial number burning a hole in your pocket, why not take a second to register your bike? You can drop your info into our official registration page and we'll keep it all on file for you in case you ever need it. You might also want to register your bike in one of the national bike.

But looking at the serial no which is 94M2403, im thinking it may actually be a 94 Stumpjumper M2 FS. Seat post size is about 30-31mm which i think was on stumpjumper of the time but not rockhopper. Can you tell me what year my bike was made?

I'm not smart enough to help you based on a photo (though someone here may well be), but I can tell you that checking the serial number is the usual way that this is done.

specialized.com has an archive section. They change the paint scheme on their bikes every year. Yours greatly resembles my boyfriend's 2002 Allez Sport , although the colors do not match. You can probably verify this by seeing if the technical specs match up (assuming there are original components on the bike).

oh! one other way I know it's a pre-2003 bike is because Specialized started putting carbon forks on their Allez sport after this time. Looks like your fork is aluminum.

That fork is NOT aluminum. Why on earth would you think it's aluminum?
It's a Kinesis carbon fork. Shifters look like 9-speed 105 as does the derailleur. The crankset is throwing me off a little - it looks like an older 8-speed Shimano? Or maybe even 7-speed? Probably though it's just a Specialized house brand.
Anyway, the bike is definitely 2002 or 2003. Those forks were sourced by several manufacturers back then - Jamis in particular used them. I had one on my 2003 Quest with a 105 9-speed group.

Black doesn't mean carbon, my friend.. although the sport gained a Carbon Kinesis fork in 2002+.
Looks like it's a 2001: Bikepedia.
Your seat looks painfully oriented.

Yes, please lower the nose of your saddle. Makes my area hurt just looking at it.

There's probably a guy standing around your local shop drinking coffee, right now, who knows the answer to this question off the top of his head.

thanks everyone this is perfect!

Well, if it's anything like the specialized allez sport I have in the basement, it would indeed be an aluminum fork. Unless it just says 'enhanced aluminum alloy' for no reason. So, um yeah, THAT's why I would think it's an aluminum fork.

Specialized Bike Serial Number

    serial number
  • A serial number is a unique number assigned for identification which varies from its successor or predecessor by a fixed discrete integer value.
  • the unique code that identifies your bicycle, also referred to as a frame number.
  • A number showing the position of an item in a series, esp. one printed on paper currency or on a manufactured article for the purposes of identification
  • (SERIAL NUMBERING) The numbering of a printed product in sequential order. Usually for tracking and accountability.
    specialized
  • Highly skilled in a specific field
  • developed or designed for a special activity or function; 'a specialized tool'
  • Requiring or involving detailed and specific knowledge or training
  • Windows Embedded (POSReady) 路 Windows Preinstallation Environment 路 Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs
    bike
  • bicycle: a wheeled vehicle that has two wheels and is moved by foot pedals
  • motorcycle: a motor vehicle with two wheels and a strong frame
1981 Specialized Sequoia Bottom Bracket
In later models the size of the frame was on one side and a serial number on the other. This was all together. This frame is 47cm. I believe the earlier Konno bikes only had the frame size, the bikes that followed these were made by Miyata & have a M at the beginning of the serial #.
Bottom bracket shell
'1' probably means 1981, and '50' is the serial number? Edit: '50' is the frame size, the '1' I don't know. Apparently the frame is a 1982 model, not a 1981.
